Nailing the Apex: A Short Guide to Faster Lap Times

Shaving real time off a lap usually comes down to a handful of habits, not raw reflexes. Here's the short version.

Brake before the turn, not during it

Braking mid-corner shifts weight in a way that fights the turn itself. Getting braking done in a straight line first, then steering, keeps the car settled through the corner.

Find the latest apex you can hold

Clipping the inside of a corner too early usually means running wide on the exit. A slightly later apex often carries more exit speed even though it feels less aggressive going in.

Look through the corner, not at it

Fixating on the apex itself tends to make the exit sloppy. Looking toward where you want to end up smooths out the whole line without extra steering input.

Repeat one track before switching

Track-specific muscle memory disappears fast if you keep hopping between circuits. A handful of clean laps on the same track beats a scattered session across five.

None of this needs a wheel or pedals - it works the same with a keyboard or touch controls, just with a slightly different feel for the braking point.
